On 1 October 2021, six researchers started their assignment on the environment committee of Region Västra Götaland in preparation for a climate transition in the region. One of these experts is Annika Nilsson, Senior Lecturer in administrative law and Associate Professor in public law at the Department of Law, Uppsala University.
Together with five other researchers from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Chalmers University of Technology, Annika Nilsson will help monitor climate action and recommend concrete measures to reduce climate emissions in Västra Götaland.
The research advisory board’s analysis will be based on the regional climate targets and CO2 budget as well as the regional development strategy for Västra Götaland for the period 2021-2030. At the end of each year, the advisory board will issue a report on the priorities needed to keep to the CO2 budget, and the results will also be communicated to the public.
