Over the past few weeks, the Educational Office and teachers have been working hard to welcome new and current students for the start of spring courses and the Law Programme. The mentioned programme has filled its places - as in previous years, it belongs to Uppsala's most popular programmes.

The number of applicants has been high for the spring course start. Competition remains strong for the 200 or so places offered each semester in Uppsala University's Law Programme. Among all the programmes in the country, the Law Programme in Uppsala is also in second place when it comes to programmes with the most eligible applicants for the spring semester of 2023.

Many also applied for the Department of Law’s freestanding courses, offered in the spring. A total of 310 people applied for the Introductory Course in Law (15 HE credits half-time) which offers 52 places, and for the corresponding distance-learning course, the web-basedIntroductory Course in Law (15 HE credits half-time), 1161 people applied for 300 places this time.

“We are very pleased to welcome yet another new cohort of students to the Law Programme! We can see that both the Law Programme and our courses continue to attract a high number of applicants, which shows that we succeed in creating high-quality, attractive courses. This autumn we are also pleased to be able to offer places on our popular Land Management Programme for the fifth year in a row," says Olle Mårsäter, Director of Studies for the undergraduate and graduate levels, and continues:

“The application period for admission to the Master's programmes in Investment Treaty Arbitration, Comparative and International Tax Law and the Nordic Master's programme in Environmental Law has recently closed, and we hope to see great interest there as well, as in previous years.”

“Finally, we would also like to mention that we will be offering a brand new Master's programme for the first time this autumn: the Master's Programme in Law for Social Work, which will provide in-depth knowledge of social work law and methodology. Welcome to apply by 17 April!” concludes Olle.
