2023 Uppsala University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Prize goes to key figures in Imint
Andreas Lifvendahl, Johan Svensson and Harald Klomp, who have all played major roles in the growth of the successful software company Imint, have been awarded the second ever Uppsala University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Prize.
The 2023 Uppsala University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Prize goes to Andreas Lifvendahl, Johan Svensson and Harald Klomp, who have played crucial roles in various phases of the development of the software company Imint.
“This year’s prize is tremendously important, besides being a great illustration of what we’re going on about when we ask for more money for free research. The entrepreneurial achievement is rooted in curiosity-driven research and the deep understanding of the field is what has made it possible to innovate, to change direction and to create new paths for applications. This is tremendously good and incredibly hard to plan for,” says Vice-Chancellor Anders Hagfeldt.

This year’s prize winners have very successfully taken advanced technology from Uppsala University to the world market through innovative solutions for video stabilisation in smartphones. They have shown how research in image analysis can be translated via various applications to achieve pioneering status in its current, highly competitive niche.
The technology provides the foundation of the rapidly growing company Imint, which by constantly seeking new applications and collaborations for added value, continues to manifest a high level of ambition in utilisation and innovation.

About the prize
The Uppsala University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Prize is awarded to a person or persons who have played a decisive role in commercialising or implementing a discovery or innovation based on research or education at Uppsala University, with considerable benefit to society.
The prize was established in 2021 by the Uppsala University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Prize Foundation, whose purpose is to raise the visibility of Uppsala University’s entrepreneurial culture. The prize money of SEK 500,000 is made possible by donations from the foundation’s ten founders.
