Vice-Rector Tora Holmberg proposed as new vice-chancellor of Umeå University

The governing board of Umeå University has decided that Professor Tora Holmberg will be presented to the consultative assembly as candidate for the position of vice-chancellor of the university. The governing board’s decision is in line with the proposal of a unanimous recruitment committee.

Tora Holmberg is professor of sociology and currently vice-rector for the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences at Uppsala University.

The governing board of Umeå University will propose its candidate for vice-chancellor to the Swedish government in December. It is the government that then appoints the vice-chancellor.

The current vice-chancellor of Umeå University, Hans Adolfsson, has been proposed as new vice-chancellor of Stockholm University from spring 2025.
