The conference Folk och forskning (People and research) will take place on 8 May at Uppsala University's Main University Building and has been organised by the non-profit association Public and Science with support from Uppsala University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, World Class Uppsala and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.

The conference, which is being held for the first time in 2025, is intended to become a regular meeting place for researchers, practitioners, politicians, representatives of interest groups, the business community and civil society. Research projects, current initiatives and good examples in Sweden and internationally on the theme of evidence-based policy will be presented during the conference.

Alongside the main track on evidence-based policy, the day will also feature an additional two parallel tracks: preventing youth crime, and the electrification of society.

Within the electrification of society track, researchers, economists and community planners along with engineers and natural scientists will discuss how Sweden can rapidly expand its electric power generation to achieve its climate objectives. The question of how universities and municipalities can cooperate for smart grids at the local level will be addressed in particular among many other questions.
