Eva Tiensuu Janson becomes Vice President for Research

The Vice-Chancellor has appointed Eva Tienssu Janson as Vice President for Research, starting 1 February 2026. The purpose of the role is to strengthen the University’s endeavours in the area of research.

The Vice President for Research will work on University-wide research issues and represent the University in research contexts. The Vice President will be part of the University Management Team and a co-opted member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Management Council.

The Vice President will be responsible, among other things, for pursuing and coordinating University-wide matters relating to:

  • research ethics
  • research infrastructure
  • open science
  • research funding
  • other research-related issues as instructed by the Vice-Chancellor.

 

The role will occupy 80 per cent of a full-time position over a renewable three-year term.

Eva Tiensuu Janson is Professor at the Department of Medical Sciences and Senior Consultant at the Section for Endocrine Oncology at Uppsala University Hospital. She is currently Vice-Rector for the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy but will leave this role when she takes up her position as Vice President.

Peter Stålberg, Professor at the Department of Surgical Sciences and Vice-Dean for Research Training, will step in as Acting Deputy Vice-Rector for the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy.
