As part of a major initiative in the life sciences with a focus on clinical research, the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has allocated funding for up to 12 Clinical Fellows at Uppsala University.
The aim of the Clinical Fellows programme is to give doctors the opportunity to engage in both clinical work and research. It is a joint initiative in which the participating universities and regions will co-fund the research component of the doctors’ posts. Each Clinical Fellow will be assigned a mentor as part of a national programme.
The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has announced that SEK 95 million will be allocated to Uppsala University. Of this amount, SEK 60 million is intended for up to twelve operating grants for Clinical Fellows and SEK 35 million for extension grants. Up to six operating grants will be advertised in 2028 and up to six grants in 2030, with projects starting in 2029 and 2031 respectively.
