6 May 2019

Caroline Sjöberg will take up her position as the new University Director for Uppsala University on 1 October 2019.
On 25 April, the University Board decided to appoint Caroline Sjöberg as Uppsala University Director.
Caroline Sjöberg has solid experience from both the international and the national arena. She has worked in various sectors, such as the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and as director of Swedish National Agency for Higher Education Services (VHS, the agency formerly responsible for selection and admission to Swedish higher education institutions). From 2001 to 2003, she was Uppsala University’s human resources director. She is currently at Umeå University, where she has been University Director since 2014.
“To be returning to Uppsala University, an institution that’s always had a very special place in my heart, gives me enormous pleasure. I look forward with great excitement and anticipation to my future task, shared with the academic community and my colleagues, of continuing to develop support and services for world-leading education and research,” she comments.
Caroline Sjöberg will start her job on 1 October 2019. She will succeed Katarina Bjelke, who is leaving on 15 May. During the transitional period, Chief Legal Officer Per Abrahamsson will serve as the Acting University Director.
