This seminar will introduce the fundamentals of lattice design, highlight their functional advantages, and discuss the role of additive manufacturing in realizing and optimizing these structures.
Lattice materials represent a unique class of engineered structures where geometry dictates performance. By tailoring unit cell design, connectivity, and relative density, lattices can achieve combinations of properties that are difficult to realize in bulk materials, such as lightweight strength, energy absorption, and tunable stiffness.
Advances in additive manufacturing have enabled the fabrication of complex lattice architectures that were previously impossible to produce, opening opportunities across fields from aerospace and automotive engineering to biomedical implants.
