Multi-material 3D printing of bio-hybrid systems
Abstract: Multi-material micro-extrusion 3D printing has a transformative potential for biomedical innovation. A particularly promising avenue is the creation of bio-hybrid systems that seamlessly integrate living tissues with synthetic materials. Realizing this vision demands the development of novel functional inks and advanced printing strategies. In this talk, I will provide an overview of our ongoing research focused on engineering printable materials and techniques for fabricating micron-scale, soft, and biocompatible electronics. I will also highlight our efforts in pioneering new bio-printing methodologies and designing tissue-instructive matrices. Finally, I will demonstrate how the convergence of these approaches enables unique applications, including living human tissue models embedded with soft sensors and actuators.
AM@UU is a series of seminars, usually via Zoom, that addresses research in AM. Open to everyone.
