– I have myself as a researcher, benefited from the services of CGU, and know how important the facility is for translational and clinical research as well as for development of new diagnostics for healthcare. I am really looking forward in contributing in bridging the gap between research and every day clinical praxis, says Panagiotis Baliakas.

Panagiotis Baliakas is a specialist in hematology and clinical genetics working as a senior consultant at the department of clinical genetics at Uppsala University Hospital and a research group leader at Uppsala University. His research interest is hematological malignancies with the main focus being hereditary hematologic cancer.

– Panagiotis’ extensive experience of clinical research, including development of international guidelines for diagnostics and clinical management of hereditary hematologic cancer, along with his medical expertise and role as medical director at the Clinical Genetics department at the hospital will be a great contribution for the future development of CGU, says Malin Melin, head of CGU.
