Research at HERO
Research on higher education and research is carried out both at the center and at other departments at Uppsala University.
Research at HERO is conducted at several different levels. Members of the secretariat, the board and other parts of the network of affiliated researchers are involved in a number of research projects relevant to the centre's operations. HERO also conducts its own research as part of its day-to-day operations (alongside a number of collaborative projects), such as the VR-funded project Remain or Quit? The research focus is diverse and can be divided into a number of areas:
Research areas
The research conducted at the center and within the research network can be divided into five main themes:
- Academic freedom, autonomy, governance and organization.
- The economics of higher education and research.
- Teacher and student recruitment.
- Research on scientific disciplines and interdisciplinarity as well as on knowledge production and scientific publishing.
- Internationalization of higher education and research.
