The main objective of the project is to provide support for developing new policies and guidelines for energy

efficiency measures in historic buildings. The goal is achieved through the development and use of a

multidisciplinary approach for an analysis of potential savings in energy efficiency measures in Swedish buildings

built before 1945. The project includes further development of the tool for techno-economic assessment of potential

for energy savings, a statistically sound assessment of the cost-effective energy-saving potential in the historic

building stock and comparison with the total Swedish building stock, a study of barriers and drivers for the

implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency measures in the historic building stock. The project outcome is

to provide instruments concerning policies and information as well as technical solutions which need to be

developed, in order to harmonize the objectives in the energy field with building conservation goals.
