SOLVE doctoral student Phil Aupke has successfully defended his licentiate thesis on predictive and privacy-preserving models for smart microgrids.

Phil Aupke, SOLVE PhD student in Computer Science at Karlstad University, successfully defended his licentiate thesis on 24 September 2025. His work, titled “Predictive Models and Optimisation Strategies for Smart Microgrids,” focuses on improving forecasting and optimisation methods for smart microgrids through adaptive machine learning, probabilistic forecasting, and federated learning.

The research advances resilient, privacy-preserving, and efficient solutions for decentralized energy systems toward smarter and more sustainable grids.
