Ellen Moons Appointed as the Academy’s First Female Secretary General

We are pleased to congratulate Ellen Moons on her appointment as the new Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, starting in January 2026. Her election marks a significant milestone — Ellen will be the first woman ever to hold this position in the Academy’s history since 1739. This appointment reflects her strong scientific achievements and her active role in the research community.
Ellen is a professor at Karlstad University and serves as the supervisor of Klara Kiselman, PhD student within SOLVE, which makes us especially proud to see her take on this important national leadership role.
