The institute will also be a physical meeting place for creative and cross-cutting activities within, across and beyond the University. It will be an inclusive space for scholarship, academic discussions and collaboration.

He is professor of global health and the director of Uppsala Uppsala University Conflicting Objectives Research Nexus (UUniCORN). He also leads SWEDESD - Sustainability Learning and Research Center at the medical faculty. His research centers on social sustainability, with a focus on equity and empowerment.
In autumn 2024, the Vice-Chancellor will adopt instructions for the institute and a governing board will be appointed.
