As part of the WISE guest professor program, Professor Carolyn Seepersad from the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology will conduct a seminar on process innovations in polymer additive manufacturing.

Invited Speaker: Prof. Carolyn Seepersad, George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

Title: Process Innovations in Polymer Additive Manufacturing.

Time and place: 15:15 on May 23 in Polhemsalen, Ångströmslaboratoriet or online.

Overview: Additive manufacturing (AM) is making a profound impact on the way engineers realize customized parts, but engineering applications continuously drive the need for more advanced AM technologies. In this talk, we will explore some recent advances in polymer AM, including new capabilities for reactive extrusion, volumetric selective sintering, and high viscosity photopolymerization. The discussion will include the underlying innovations in AM processing and manufacturing systems, along with the new design opportunities and challenges that accompany them, such as active, shape-changing structures and soft robotics.
