Intergenerational Effects of a Right-to-Buy Policy
Housing policy shapes not only the opportunities of current residents but also those of future generations. This project examines the intergenerational consequences of Sweden’s Right-to-Buy (RTB) policy using a quasi-experimental approach. By leveraging politically driven policy changes and detailed longitudinal register data, we analyze how access to homeownership through RTB affects the housing outcomes of the next generation. The study contributes to the broader understanding of how housing policies influence social mobility and wealth accumulation over time.
