Living with the Aftermath: Consequences of Gun Violence for Affected Residential Areas and Individuals
Gun violence constitutes one of the greatest societal challenges in Sweden today. By combining data from the Police on shootings and explosions with individual-based data on avoidance behaviors, sick leave, school performance, and mental health, we will use quasi-experimental statistical methods to estimate how the violence affects residents in the affected areas. The hope is to thereby contribute to the calculation of the total societal costs of gun violence. The research group is multidisciplinary, with expertise in criminology, urban geography, and health economics.
