“Mom, Dad: I’m staying.” Initial labour market conditions, housing markets, and welfare
Young individuals are currently living with their parents more than at any other point in time, while also spending more on housing. In this research, we study how labour market entry conditions affect housing tenure and affordability in the long term, across Europe for the last 30 years. We also study how housing aid policies can help young people to go back into the rental market, and how to ensure that welfare gains from these policies are captured by the targeted population.
