The webinar ‘How can Landscape Governance be Successfully Implemented in Practice?’ marks the first event since the series resumed and brings together researchers from Uppsala University, ESG members, and international scholars. Looking ahead, we aim to broaden participation and actively involve the community in shaping future conversations. Our hope is that this series will support meaningful knowledge exchange and spark new collaborations across disciplines and regions.

Landscape governance has emerged as a vital approach for addressing the intertwined challenges of biodiversity loss, climate adaptation, land justice, and sustainable development, yet gaps remain between ambitious policy goals and the realities of implementation. Here, landscape governance is defined as a governance approach that aims to manage multiple land functions while including actors across sectors and scales in the decision-process.
This seminar and panel discussion will explore landscape governance as a dynamic arena in which ecological systems, governance structures, and competing societal demands intersect across scales. Bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives and diverse practical experiences, the speakers will present practical examples of landscape governance and discuss the challenges and opportunities that affect their effectiveness.
The webinar will include short presentations from each speaker, a panel discussion, and an open Q&A with the audience.
