A major part of the functioning of society rests on the activities of companies, ranging from fledgling new startups to large and internationally active corporations. What these companies do and refrain from doing is both cause and part of the solution to a set of complex sustainability challenges, including the balancing of conflicting stakeholder goals and the containing of human and business activity within already threatened planetary boundaries.
