From the Disciplinary Domain Board, 13 March 2024
At its meeting on 13 March 2024, the Humanities and Social Sciences Disciplinary Domain Board decided on the management of self-evaluations for the University-wide components of Q&R24.
Evaluations of infrastructure and multi- and interdisciplinarity
The research evaluation Q&R24 includes two University-wide evaluations: research infrastructure and multi- and interdisciplinarity. The disciplinary domain needs to prepare for these evaluations by producing self-evaluations.
The disciplinary domain board therefore decided to instruct the disciplinary domain’s infrastructure committee to draw up a self-evaluation proposal for the infrastructures evaluation in Q&R24. With regard to the self-evaluation for multi- and interdisciplinarity, the disciplinary domain board instructed Mattias Martinson, Deputy Vice-Rector, and Claes-Fredrik Helgesson, Director of CIRCUS, to draw up a proposal for self-reflection on multi- and interdisciplinarity in Q&R24.
The proposals are to be submitted to the disciplinary domain board for decision.

Evaluation of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies on Racism (CEMFOR)
In accordance with the instructions for CEMFOR from 2021, an evaluation of CEMFOR has now been carried out by three external evaluators. The evaluation was presented to the disciplinary domain board.
A few conclusions from the evaluation:
CEMFOR hosts cooperation across disciplinary sectors concerning anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, indigenous peoples and right-wing populism that is unique and innovative in an international perspective. The multifocal approach is therefore of key importance and should be maintained.
- The output of research publications is steady, varied and generally of high quality.
- CEMFOR’s success in securing externally funded projects has been modest since 2022. CEMFOR is financially vulnerable and needs guarantees for a further three-year period to consolidate its academic position.
