Disciplinary domain board decided on self-evaluation of research infrastructure

At a meeting on 5 June 2024, the Humanities and Social Sciences disciplinary domain board decided on a self-evaluation of its research infrastructure as part of Q&R24.

Self-evaluation of research infrastructure

The disciplinary domain board decided on a self-evaluation concerning the domain’s research infrastructure. The decision was taken on the basis of a proposed self-assessment drawn up by the domain’s infrastructure committee on behalf of the domain board.

The self-evaluation is part of ongoing work on the Quality and Renewal 2024 (Q&R24) research evaluation.

Preparatory committee for special calls to continue its work

The work of the preparatory committee for special calls has been extended for the period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2027 by the disciplinary domain board. The activities of the preparatory committee will be evaluated ahead of a new decision on its work in spring 2027.

The disciplinary domain board also decided on the members and chair of the preparatory committee for the new period as follows:

  • Ulrika Dahl
  • Joakim Nivre
  • Isak Svensson.

Directive to evaluate HERO

The Centre for Higher Education as a Research Object (HERO) is a research centre established in 2021 for the purpose of strengthening and developing the research conducted at Uppsala University in the field of higher education and research studies.

According to the instructions for HERO, the disciplinary domain board is responsible for ensuring that a more

thorough evaluation of its activities, supported by external evaluators, is carried out four years after the centre’s establishment.

On 5 June 2024, the disciplinary domain board decided to instruct the Vice-Rector to approve a directive for the evaluation and to appoint external evaluator.

The evaluation shall be presented to the disciplinary domain board by 9 April 2025.

Democracy and Higher Education board

Democracy and Higher Education is a multidisciplinary research programme.

The board of the programme consists of representatives of each faculty and is appointed by the disciplinary domain board. The board appoints two of its members as chair and vice-chair.

The disciplinary domain board approves the appointment of the following board members for the term of office from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2027:

Working Committee members

The Working Committee of the disciplinary domain board prepares matters for domain board meetings.

The Working Committee comprises

  • Vice-Rector
  • Deputy Vice-Rector
  • one representative of the Dean
  • one teacher representative
  • one student representative

The dean and teacher representatives and their alternates are appointed for six months, after which the respective assignments rotate to other deans and teachers.

The disciplinary domain board appointed the following dean and teacher representatives to the Working Committee for the autumn term 2024:
