Supplement to 2025 operational plan

At a meeting on 11 December 2024, the Humanities and Social Sciences Disciplinary Domain Board approved a supplement to the 2025 operational plan and revision of the rules of procedure.

Supplement to 2025 operational plan

The supplemented operational plan for Uppsala University (UFV 2024/25) distributes a reduction in the funding ceiling made by the government.

The reduction is based on programmes with low activity and student completion rates and on the capacity of freestanding courses where there is not deemed to be a corresponding shortage on the labour market.

The supplemented operational plan for Uppsala University (UFV 2024/25) distributes this reduction between the disciplinary domains allocating

  • one third in proportion to the funding ceiling
  • two thirds based on the number of full-time equivalent students in freestanding distance learning courses.

The Humanities and Social Sciences Disciplinary Domain Board receives a reduction of just over SEK 4 million in its funding ceiling.

Just under SEK 3 million of this SEK 4 million will be managed using the funds reserved for later decisions. This leaves SEK 1.5 million of the reduction to be distributed among the faculty boards following the same principle as the division between the disciplinary domain boards, with the exception that no reduction will be required of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, which received a reduced funding ceiling following redistribution in the ordinary operational plan.

Final project report “Collaboration with the cultural sector and creative industries”

The “Final report: Collaboration with the cultural sector and creative industries 2024” was presented at the meeting.

In the final report, the project group concludes that there are good prospects for HumSam to develop a unique collaborative profile in culture and creative industries. Project manager Olle Jansson believes that continued action in the area of culture and creative industries should be underpinned by a more long-term and stable organisation, funding and governance. The report goes on to say that the project manager recommends the disciplinary domain management to analyse which function, division or unit in the regular organisation can most suitably be tasked with continuing the work.
