These calls for targeted project grants aim to stimulate research in areas that are particularly important to society.
Now that the Swedish Research Council’s decisions on grants in the targeted project calls can be totalled up, it is clear that the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences at Uppsala University has been granted funding for many of its proposed projects within five of the targeted project grant calls for 2025.
“One can say that the yield from these calls has been particularly good, so I conclude that our researchers are both highly skilled and well able to formulate excellent research project applications. It means that even in the years to come there will be some excellent and for society very valuable research being done in Uppsala,” says Joakim Palme, Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In three of the calls, approximately one third of the funding will go to research in the humanities and social sciences at Uppsala University. And in the fourth and fifth calls, approximately one-tenth of the funding.
“There’s always a luck factor involved when it comes to getting funding from the research councils, meaning that the grants awarded can vary from one year to the next. But over the long term, the quality of the applications carries the most weight and the best applications get support. In recent years, we’ve done well out of the Swedish Research Council’s calls, and not just the targeted calls. We will be doing our best to maintain this standard,” says Joakim Palme.
