Three researchers receive VR grants for clinical treatment research

The Swedish Research Council has now decided on the researchers who will receive grants for clinical treatment research. Among them are three researchers from Uppsala University and the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The researchers in question are Marta Lomnytska and Karin Stålberg from the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, and Fotios Papadopoulos from the Department of Medical Sciences.

In total, the grants amount to just over SEK 11.4 million. A little more than SEK 9 million has been awarded to Marta Lomnytska, a researcher at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health and a specialist in gynaecological cancer at Uppsala University Hospital.

“It feels wonderful! I am very pleased that our research is appreciated, and I am immensely grateful to all the colleagues in the project and my mentors,” she says.

The aim is to contribute to improved treatment outcomes and patient survival in ovarian cancer using hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and prediction markers.

“Our study is underway in terms of both clinical trials and data collection for transnational research. This grant we have received is crucial for the implementation of this trial and the extensive analyses expected to help identify patients who will benefit most from the treatment,” concludes Marta Lomnytska.
