“The assignment is urgent, stimulating and challenging”, says Pernilla Åsenlöf, Vice-Dean for the Faculty of Medicine, who will investigate the issue of strengthening collegial participation and decision-making.

As a follow-up to Vision:Medfarm, the task of developing the collegial culture at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy is now underway. Medfarm’s appointed working group will investigate the issue of strengthening collegial participation and decision-making, and now the group has had a first meeting.

In February 2024, the Disciplinary Domain Board (ON) appointed a working group to investigate the issue of strengthening collegial participation and collegial decision-making. Pernilla Åsenlöf, Vice-Dean for the Faculty of Medicine, leads the working group.

“The assignment is urgent, stimulating and challenging. I expect great commitment from the collegium, as it is ultimately about the academy’s governance and future,” says Pernilla Åsenlöf.

In addition to Pernilla Åsenlöf, the working group consists of seven teacher representatives and one student representative: Alexandra Teleki, Anne-Lie Svensson, Mikael Sellin, Peter Stålberg, Susann Järhult, Sven Nelander and Ulrika Winblad. A student representative will be appointed by the student organisations.

This autumn, the working group aims to invite the collegium to open workshops, where their thoughts will be taken into account during the process. In 2025, everyone can look forward to new activities aimed at strengthening collegiality at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy. The result of the working group will lead to concrete actions to strengthen and develop collegial participation, decision-making and regeneration.

“I hope that many colleagues, in the true spirit of collegiality, will engage in this work and contribute to increased collegial participation and the development of collegial governance at Medfarm,” says Pernilla.

Mats Larhed, Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, concludes:

“During the Vision:Medfarm process, all staff at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy were involved. Together, we identified the vision and mission of the Disciplinary Domain, as well as our main goals and sub-goals. We need to continue to work actively on several of the goals in Vision:Medfarm. It is inspiring to now be able to prioritise this work and to develop a culture of collegiality, collegial participation and decision-making. I hope that the commitment to be involved in realising this important part of the vision feels important and motivating!”
