Open call for CAGs for increased interaction between clinical, translational and basic science researchers
The Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, together with Uppsala University Hospital and Region Uppsala, is announcing funding opportunities to establish Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs) to strengthen translational research in Uppsala.
aim is to develop new constellations where researchers working within the same subject area but with different specialisations come together to solve a patient-related health or disease problem. Each CAG should have a leader and a co-leader, one being a clinical researcher and the other orientated towards basic science.
Awarded CAGs will receive up to SEK 2 million per year for a maximum of 4 years, which can be used to support, for example, doctoral students or postdoctoral researchers. The applications will be evaluated by an international panel.
“CAGs are a concept that exists in several other European countries,” says Eva Tiensuu Janson, Deputy Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy. “The aim is to connect research groups working on the same disease or health problem, to find innovative solutions together. I hope that the CAGs can lead to more collaborations with high-quality translational research, something we want to improve based on the suggestions we received in the ALF evaluation.”
The deadline for applications is 2 December 2024.
