Until 17 March, you can apply to be admitted as Distinguished University Teacher at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy. Last year, only Oliver Dyar, Lecturer at the Department of Public Health and Care Sciences, was admitted.
Hello, Oliver! How did it feel to be accepted as Distinguished University Teacher?
“It felt positive and joyful.”
What has this recognition meant to you?
“In practical terms, it means that I now regularly participate in meetings with others who have also been admitted as distinguished university teachers, which is a great and inspiring community where pedagogy is clearly at the centre. I feel I am gaining more and more opportunities to support other teachers in their pedagogical development, which I really enjoy. And I also get to answer questions from colleagues about what a distinguished university teacher actually is, since the title is not so well known!”
What will you take forward in your work as Distinguished University Teacher?
“The application process involved a lot of reflection over my own development as a teacher and on what excellence in pedagogy actually means. It is mainly the lessons learnt from these reflections that I carry with me and try to put into practice, both in my own teaching and when supporting fellow teachers.”

Distinguished University Teacher at Medfarm
You can apply to become Distinguished University Teacher at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy at Uppsala University if you are a permanently employed research teacher (lecturer, senior lecturer or professor) at the Disciplinary Domain.
You can also apply if you are employed by Region Uppsala – or another principal – but are highly active in teaching and research at the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The last day to apply in 2024 is 17 March.
