On 17–18 November, researchers, clinicians and strategic stakeholders met in Uppsala to discuss the future of precision medicine.

The aim was to strengthen collaboration between Uppsala and the Norwegian network NorPreM and to share experiences on how to integrate precision medicine into everyday clinical practice. NorPreM is Norway’s national competence network for precision medicine, established in 2019 with the mission to coordinate and follow up on Norway’s national strategy in this field.

During the two days, several aspects of Uppsala’s work in precision medicine were presented, with representatives from Uppsala University, Uppsala University Hospital and Region Uppsala. Topics discussed included the implementation of molecular testing, for example, in cancer care, and how health economics can support more informed introductions and prioritisation in healthcare. The delegation also visited clinical units in pathology, microbiology and genetics, followed by a site visit to Clinical Genomics Uppsala.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on possible future areas of collaboration and continued knowledge exchange.
