New Vice-Rectors proposed by the Electoral Assembly

On Wednesday, the Electoral Assembly decided on which candidates to recommend for the positions of Vice-Rector and Deputy Vice-Rector for the term of office 2026–2029. Peter Stålberg, Professor at the Department of Surgical Sciences, is proposed as Vice-Rector and Mathias Hallberg, Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences is proposed, unanimously, as Deputy Vice-Rector.
Peter Stålberg is Professor of Endocrine Surgery at the Department of Surgical Sciences and Senior Consultant at Uppsala University Hospital. During the previous term of office, he served as Vice-Dean for Research Training. Since February 2026, he has been Acting Deputy Vice-Rector.
Mathias Hallberg is Professor of Neuropharmacology and Biological Addiction Research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy
The proposal of the Electoral Assembly will now be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor for decision no later than 30 April.
The new term of office begins on 1 July.
