Medfarm visible at Almedalsveckan

Part of universities’ role is to contribute evidence-based knowledge to public debate. By participating in Almedalen, our researchers have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with decision-makers, partners, interest organisations, and the public, on issues where our expertise is needed. The Disciplinary Domain’s research and education activities are highly relevant to developments in sustainability, human health, and societal progress.

A strategic meeting place for impact

Participating in Almedalsveckan is an important part of the Disciplinary Domain’s efforts to strengthen its role in societal dialogue. For Medfarm, being present is both strategic and natural.

“We are in Almedalen to contribute knowledge and perspectives on societal issues related to health, healthcare, and innovation. We participate in panel discussions, seminars and meetings, and engage in dialogue with decision-makers, organisations, partners and the public. For us, it is about making our research and education visible, but also about listening to needs and creating new collaborations,” says Mats Larhed, Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain.

Medfarm’s participation in Almedalen is a deliberate initiative to strengthen the Disciplinary Domain’s voice in public debate. Through active engagement and a focus on long-term relationships, our presence contributes to increased relevance and impact.

“Almedalen is not an end in itself, but a means to further our mission – to contribute to better health through research, education, and collaboration,” says Mats Larhed.

High expectations and valuable meetings

Expectations are high but realistic ahead of each Almedalsveckan. Peter Stålberg, Vice-Rector-elect of the Disciplinary Domain, highlights the opportunities to meet both existing and new partners, as well as to capture current trends and priorities in politics and industry.

“We know there are many stakeholders on site, so we need to be precise in our messaging. At the same time, it is often in smaller, informal meetings that the most valuable contacts are made. We should make the most of the opportunities and follow up once we are back in Uppsala,” says Peter Stålberg.
