Content
“Navigating Swedish Academia” invites participants into a fictional space in which they can tackle and reflect on the real-life issues that they may encounter when first getting settled into an academic position. As if being a newcomer in a new country wasn’t enough, international academics also encounter a new academic landscape. They must therefore navigate not just a new host culture, but also a new work culture (academia in Sweden).
In this workshop we will find playful ways to meaningfully explore the inner workings of a Swedish university. We will use drama and improvisation techniques to help us master the skills required to successfully navigate Swedish academia. No acting experience or skill is required. Please wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes.
Workshop leader
Eva Göksel has a PhD from the University of Zurich, focusing on Drama in Education in teacher training. She is Swiss/Canadian and she was first inspired to work with drama-based pedagogies while completing her Masters at the University of British Columbia.
