Welcome to a webinar where you’ll learn more about the risks associated with field research as well as how to make more well-informed, balanced, decisions and reduce risk.
Field research can be risky, especially when working on sensitive topics or in conflict-prone areas. The safety of the individual researcher/student as well as that of local research assistants, respondents and the community must be considered. To act responsibly, researchers must be able to assess if the benefit outweigh the risks, to refrain when fieldwork is too risky and take measures to increase the safety of those involved.
Welcome to a webinar where you’ll learn more about the risks associated with field research as well as how to make more well-informed, balanced, decisions and reduce risk. The seminar targets researchers, students, supervisors, and administrative staff conducting, or facilitating fieldwork in conflict-affected areas. Two researchers with extensive field work experience will share their knowledge with us. What type of risks have they’ve faced in the field and what can researchers do before and in the field to enhance safety?
