Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a form of student-mentorship pedagogy, where senior students support less experienced students in their learning. SI can supplement scheduled teaching and is dedicated to what students experience as difficult and challenging in the course. The aim is to increase students’ confidence and motivation while simultaneously practicing cooperation and developing study skills. Studies have shown that this type of student-mentorship pedagogy can contribute to better results among the participating students (see, e.g., Malm et al. 2015). There is also a reason to believe that mentorship pedagogy of this kind can decrease students’ study-related stress and anxiety.
