Global decarbonization efforts require timely and effective solutions for waste lithium-ion batteries disposal. Join our discussion with four leading experts and hear the stories behind this topic!

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are a key enabler for global decarbonization. With the increased uptake of electric vehicles and utility-scale energy storage systems, the market for LIBs is expected to grow significantly. However, IEA’s data shows a looming mismatch between the world’s strengthened climate ambitions and the availability of critical minerals that are essential to realizing those ambitions.

Maximizing the uses of produced LIBs, and recycling the waste LIBs are considered as the key solution to address this pressing challenge. In this area, during the past decade, a strong synergy has been shaped by joint efforts of policymakers, international organizations, private sector, and the academia. Co-chaired by UNDP and Uppsala University, a panel discussion with four experts from the industry, with different background, will provide you with a holistic understanding about this emerging industry, and an overview of the efforts invested in the course of market development.
