The Department of Electric Engineering hereby invite all interested to a docentship lecture in subject Engineering Science with Specialisation in Science of Electricity. Chairperson: professor Mats Leijon Representative of the Docentship Committee: professor Subhrakanti Dey
With a growing share of electric vehicles in the electricity system, there is a risk of electrical grid congestion, especially if many choose to charge at the same time. By controlling the charging - and discharging - in a smart way, electric vehicles can instead contribute with solutions. In fact, electric vehicles can be considered mobile energy storage systems and become a great resource for flexibility when providing support services to the grid. This lecture gives a glimpse into challenges and opportunities that accompany the energy transition to a modern grid. The lecture will give an introduction to electric vehicle charging equipment, charging strategies, and grid services. Finally, it will give an example of on-going research in the field.
The lecture is an obligatory teaching test for those applying for admittance as docent and it should be possible for students and others with basic academic education in the relevant field to follow it. The lecture lasts 40-45 minutes with subsequent discussion. The lecture will be given in English.
Welcome!
