Cyber-physical Systems for Industry 5.0 Definitions, Applications, Architectures and Challenges

The Department of Information Technologies hereby invite all interested to a docentship lecture in subject Cyber-physical Systems.

Date: 7 May 2024 at 13.00

Chairperson: Professor Stefanos Kaxiras

Representative of the Docentship Committee: Professor Nataša Sladoje

Abstract:

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has brought a technology-driven paradigm shift through different applications of cyber-physical systems such as collaborative robots, autonomous vehicles, smart cities and infrastructure. As we move towards the next phase, Industry 5.0, the focus is shifting towards a human-centric approach that harmonizes technological advancements with sustainable practices and human values.

Cyber-physical systems play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of Industry 5.0, enabling the seamless integration of physical and digital components, real-time monitoring, control, and optimization of our engineered systems. This lecture will discuss the significance of CPS in the context of Industry 5.0, exploring their unique characteristics, applications, architectures, and the challenges associated with their implementation, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and human-centred design of them.

The lecture is an obligatory teaching test for those applying for admittance as docent and it should be possible for students and others with basic academic education in the relevant field to follow it. The lecture lasts 40-45 minutes with subsequent discussion. The lecture will be given in English.

Welcome!
