Do you want to help create a short open course that contributes to Sweden's green transition?
Through the Short Courses for Professionals initiative, the government wants to increase the skills of professionals in the field of green transition. The aim is to provide knowledge and skills that support the transition to a fossil-free energy system. For 2025, Uppsala University has a planned budget for open courses (i.e. short courses that are not credit-bearing) of SEK 4.5 million.

Funds for a course
You can apply for SEK 250 000 to develop and implement a course. The funds are for course development and to deliver the course on at least one occasion. The design/structure of the course is not specified but can be e.g. MOOC, course with digital teaching or pre-recorded digital teaching material combined with digital teaching. The initiative is intended to test and design forms of teaching that are suitable for the target group of professionals. If you have an existing course that fits into the subject areas above, you can apply for funding to rework or develop it into an open course (tailored to the target group of professionals).
About the design of the courses
The courses will be offered as open courses in 2026, with a start date no later than November 1, 2026.
The size of the course must correspond to a credit-bearing course of 3 credits. You must have a plan for how the course can eventually be given as a commissioned course or credit-bearing course, or survive as a MOOC.
We prefer that the courses are given in Swedish, but it is not a requirement.
Approved courses will be marketed on e.g. learning4professionals.se. As a teacher, you develop the course as usual in Studium and are offered pedagogical support during the development of the course.
