Season's Greetings/God jul och Gott nytt år
Dear colleagues at the Faculty of Languages!
As the year draws to a close and the Christmas and New Year holidays are almost here, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts this year. We are grateful for the dedication you have shown our faculty which has undoubtedly contributed to making our faculty a vibrant environment.
As usual, we have decided on an operational plan for the coming year. The full plan is a comprehensive document though there is also a summary (in both Swedish and English) highlighting key aspects. We will also continue with the call to invite research environment grants to promote inter-departmental research activities.
Many of our colleagues have been successful in external grant applications this year. We have already congratulated some at the start of this month, but since then there have been more successful outcomes. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to honour all these achievements!
For 2025 we issued for the first time a joint call for doctoral positions. We will do so also next year. We are very happy about this opportunity to attract new doctoral students to our faculty.
Every year, the Faculty Board appoints honorary doctorates – a title awarded to people who have made outstanding academic contributions or otherwise promoted research at the university. This year's honorary doctorate at the Faculty of Languages is Fredrik Logevall. He will be awarded this honour at the Winter Conferment Ceremony on 30 January 2026. All staff are also cordially invited to the honorary doctors’ lectures on 28 January at 15.15 in room IV, Universitetshuset.
Finally, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that you will have the opportunity for some well-deserved rest and recreation. We look forward to starting the coming year together with you!
