Teaching in the classroom: The art of presentation: How do you talk about a topic so that your students listen and understand?

Presentations of various kinds are important in much of our teaching, from lectures and problem demonstration to lab introduction and informal explanation. In this seminar we will discuss, from various angles, how one can explain difficult topics in our disciplines in a clear and engaging manner to students.

We will relate rhetorical practice and use of presentation tools to specific challenges in our fields, such as the need to use different representations and make scientific formalism accessible. How do you introduce a topic, keep students engaged and make them remember what you talked about? How can you use your voice, body language, blackboards and visual aids?

The seminar does not presuppose any specific level of teaching experience.

Please register by email to tur-teknat@uu.se.

This seminar can be included in our seminar course "Teaching in the Classroom" and will be given in English.

Welcome!
