As teachers we need to accommodate students with disabilities. This means that we should try and and give these students the same chances as other students.
In this seminar we will talk about common disabilities that affect learning and strategies that support effective learning. We will also discuss if it is possible to adopt these strategies and at the same time create a course that fits all types of students. We will mention the individual accommodations that students with disabilities can get from Uppsala University, but the focus will be on we as teachers can adapt the way we teach in an effective manner.
This seminar will be held in English. You do not need to register to attend, but if you want “fika” send an e-mail to tur-teknat@uu.se no later than April 15.
This seminar is part of TUR’s series on “Inclusive teaching”:
Students with disabilities: Improve your teaching by taking into account common barriers to learning.
International classroom: Manage challenges and possibilities with international students and faculty
Gender in the science classroom: Develop strategies for adapting a gender-inclusive environment.
Welcome,
Marcus Lundberg and Nic Timneanu (TUR)
