On Thursday, Uppsala University and the steel company Alleima entered into a new strategic partnership in a ceremony at the Ångström Laboratory. The agreement formalizes a longstanding collaboration and increases opportunities for cooperation and networking between the organizations. Among the participants were Vice Chancellor Charlotte Platzer Björkman and Alleima's Executive Vice President and Head of Strategic Research Tom Eriksson, who signed the agreement.

Uppsala University currently has established strategic partnerships with Hitachi Energy, Region Gotland, Volvo Cars, and Uppsala Municipality. These partnerships promote joint research and development projects as well as increased mobility and direct knowledge exchange through a variety of activities. These activities include study visits, guest lectures, and an industry-oriented perspective on the design of university education.

Urban Wiklund.

Urban Wiklund, professor of materials science, will be the university's representative in the partnership with Alleima. He emphasized the importance of viewing this partnership as an opportunity to strengthen and highlight collaborations, both in research and education.

– Since Uppsala University has internationally recognized materials science research and Alleima works with advanced steels and special alloys, the collaboration has often revolved around materials science in various forms.

According to Urban Wiklund, the purpose of formalizing the partnership is also to involve other parts of the university.

– We are very pleased that this partnership has been established, and I am convinced that the collaboration can lead to more connections between Alleima and researchers, teachers, and students at Uppsala University.
