Names in the news in Science and Technology

Malin Wohlert, Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has been awarded the 2026 Competence Development Award from the Gunnar Sundblad Research Foundation, worth SEK 700,000, for her research on lignin in the pulp and paper industry.

Three young researchers at Uppsala University have been awarded Göran Gustafsson Prizes in Engineering Physics: Patrick Sandoz at the Department of Materials Science (three-year prize), Sergii Shylin at the Department of Chemistry-Ångström (one-year prize), and Chenyu Wen at the Department of Electrical Engineering (one-year prize).

PhD students Alessandro Varalda and Anna Franziska Frigge from the Department of Information Technology won first and second prize respectively in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at Uppsala University.
