With an aim to transcend institutional differences in historical research, the ”PhD Colloquium for Historical Studies” investigates what it entails to do historical work. Over the course of multiple seminars, doctoral students are invited to meet and discuss both differing and overlapping perspectives on historical studies.

While the Colloquium is mainly aimed at PhD students within the three disciplines of History, Economic History and History of Ideas, anyone with a historical methodology or perspective in their doctoral project is warmly welcome to attend.

This seminar will feature a presentation by Johan Kihlert from the History of Ideas Department, with the title of "Taking decolonial critique seriously: a practical discussion" regarding theoretical and methodological considerations from his thesis project on contemporary Sámi history.

Attendees need to register beforehand, but do otherwise not have to do any preparatory work. Discussion is based on a presentation held by one of the PhD students.

Most importantly, sandwiches and fika is provided for attendees to allow for a sociable and welcoming atmosphere.

If you are a PhD student interested in attending, please contact maya.strom@idehist.uu.se for more information and registration.
