VR – Apply for funding for international guest researchers
The Swedish Research Council has now opened a call for grants to recruit international guest researchers to Sweden. The call aims to give universities and other research organisations the opportunity to develop and strengthen a research area by recruiting a prominent researcher with current employment and research activities outside Europe.

What you can apply for
The grant is used for covering salary in Sweden for a limited amount of time as well as expenses for the recruitment. The call opened on 15 April and applications can be submitted continuously until 1 December.
The grant is a lump sum of SEK 2,000,000 and the Swedish Research Council assumes that the administrator of the grant will cover expenses beyond the received grant, including long-term salary costs. The guest researcher must be employed by the university/organisation throughout the stay.
Grants are applied for a 12 month-stay, starting no earlier than 1 June, 2025 and no later than 1 March, 2026. Applications will be processed continuously by the Swedish Research Council and for this call, the organisation (Uppsala University) is the applicant.
How to apply from UU
To start an application and thus have an application set up in PRISMA, contact Cecilia Nilsson at the Division for Research and Partnership Support (cecilia.nilsson@uu.se) with information about the project title in Swedish and English, as well as the name and institutional affiliation of the researcher at UU who is the applicant/project leader.
When the application is ready to be submitted, send an email to cecilia.nilsson@uu.se, since it is an organisational application the procedure is centralised.
Please not that in order to submit the application, a certificate signed by the Head of Department is required (template provided upon request).
