Changed conditions for librarian designed search – fee introduced
From 1 May 2026, Uppsala University Library will charge a fee for performing librarian designed search for researchers. The change applies to new assignments, while ongoing and previously delivered searches are free to update.
Fee introduced for new librarian designed search
From 1 May 2026, a librarian designed search will cost SEK 30,000. Invoicing will take place when the final search is delivered, but before any update search prior to publication.
A librarian designed search means that a librarian conducts systematic searches for a literature review on behalf of a researcher or research group.
Ongoing and previous projects are not affected
Projects that began before 1 May 2026 will not be invoiced. Updates to searches delivered by the library before this date will also remain free of charge, which means that you can receive new hits from the searches prior to publication.
Region Gotland and Region Uppsala exempt from the fee
According to an agreement between Region Gotland, Region Uppsala and Uppsala University Library, librarian designed search are free of charge for regional employees, provided that the search results are used in their work as regional employees.
Guidance is free of charge
Uppsala University Library continues to offer free guidance in systematic searching as support for researchers and students who carry out systematic searches themselves.
