"Assign to" for modules

Previously, modules have been visible to all students in a course, but now it is possible to assign modules to specific students or sections. This way, you can target information and assignments to different groups of students. All items in the module automatically inherit the student's assigned.

How do I assign a module?

Click on the three dots in the module header and then click on Assign to in the menu.

The default option is that the module is visible for everyone. Instead, check Assign to.

In the box that opens, you can either write in the names of specific students or choose a section with students. Once you're done, click Save.

What happens to the content within the module?

The content within the module inherits the module's assigned students. For example, if there is an page in the module, the same students will be assigned to it and the page will not be visible to the other students.

The following items within the module inherit the assigned students:

• Pages
• Assignments
• Discussions
• Quizzes

Do you have content in your module that you think would fit well in multiple modules? You can easily add the same content to several modules, even when different groups of students have been assigned.

Keep in mind...

Admitted students can see all published modules and pages. It is only once the students are officially registered that the visibility settings take effect.

The "View as Student" feature allows the teacher to act as a test student in the course. The test student cannot be assigned to a module and will not see any of the assigned modules.
