New in Studium: Smart Search
Are you interested in testing a new feature that allows you to search for content in your course in Studium?
Smart Search
Smart Search is a feature under development. It allows both teachers and students to search for content in a course. In the search field, you can enter keywords or ask a question to search for content.
What content can be searched?
The following can be searched as of now:
- Pages
- Announcements
- Discussions
- and Assignments
Continued development
Currently, the feature is still under development. This means that the search results may not be relevant to what you searched for—or they may appear in the wrong order. Because of this, we have chosen not to enable the feature for all courses. Instead, as a teacher or admin, you can choose to activate the feature in the course settings.
How do I activate Smart Search in my course?
The feature is activated per course instance. If you are a teacher or administrator, go to Settings in the course menu. Then click on the Feature Options tab. Scroll down to Smart Search and activate it.
Next, go to the Navigation tab. (If you don't see Smart Search in the list, refresh the page.) Here, you can choose whether to display Smart Search for both teachers and students—or disable it so that only teachers can access it in the course menu. Don't forget to save.
The final step is to click on Smart Search in the course menu. The first time you open it, it will take a few minutes to load the course material.
